Thanks for the food and love

The Haymarket Foundation is so grateful for the donation of hundreds of delicious meals over several months for people who have been self-isolating in hotel and apartment-style accommodation, due to the pandemic.

“It’s nice that people are helping us by providing meals: it shows they care,” says one person experiencing homelessness. “I enjoy the variety of the food.”

The collaboration was initiated and funded by StreetSmart and the meals were provided by inner west social enterprise Colombo Social

“Kudos to StreetSmart and Colombo Social for their compassion and care for those experiencing homelessness,” says Grace Rullis, the Manager of Homelessness Services and Clinical Lead of the Haymarket Foundation. “The gift of food has helped in a tangible way during the pandemic.”

Now the Haymarket Foundation is working with these people experiencing homelessness to prepare their own meals, as part of a living skills program. It is hoped this will prepare people for a housing placement, when it becomes available.
